"Making your way in the world today takes everything you've got. Taking a break from all your worries sure would help a lot. Wouldn't you like to get away?" Sound familiar?

The "Cheers" soundtrack was performed by gifted piano duelers Rob Baird and Ron Savage who were accompanied by an eager crowd last Thursday night. Everyone chimed in for the chorus, "where everybody knows your name."

They sang like it was their class reunion, singing their favorite song. Smiles filled the room and the song ended with hoots, hollers and yes, cheers.

Chopstix dueling piano bar & steakhouse, located at 2820 Oakes Ave. in downtown Everett, was made for such a party. The room is huge; the staff abundant, the food quick and the entertainment was, well, entertaining.

Baird, Savage and their partner in crime Mike Rush play an all-request show. In an effort to keep the crowd singing and laughing they played favorites like "Crocodile Rock," "Hey Jude," and "Margaritaville." They occasionally added crude humor, turning some songs into off color renditions, but the crowd didn't seem to mind.

Sunday night is family night, with two shows, one starting at 5 p.m., and one at 7 p.m. with no cover, as long as you buy dinner, and since they play to the crowd, which can include kids, they keep the music and humor family friendly.

Thursday night is ladies night, no cover charge and $3 drinks all night for the ladies. The fun starts at 8 p.m. when all eyes are trained on the two baby grand pianos on stage.

It's good to see nightlife in Everett and according to EvCC's own Rhonda Campbell, who is also a waitress at Chopstix, "It's a fun place to work!" "I love my co-workers," said Campbell, who noted that many of them are also EvCC students.
