February 27, 2009 (All day)

The Consumer Electronics Show takes place in Las Vegas every year. It is here that the newest high-end consumer gadgets are introduced to the world. These are just a few of the devices that were introduced in this year's show.

Palm Pre

The Palm won best in show at CES this year for the Palm Pre. The Palm Pre is a touch screen phone that takes all of your contacts, schedules and any other information and places it in one easy to access format. One of the big draws for this phone is Palm's synergy feature that allows the phone to display information from multiple sources in one simple and easy to follow format. The Palm Pre also makes use of touch screen technology and has a slide-out keyboard for easy texting. The Palm Pre will be available exclusively with Sprint and comes with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, a 3.1-inch display, GPS and eight gigabytes of storage. It is slated to be available sometime in the first half of this year.

Sony DSC-G3

With the rise of the social networking sites, companies have been attempting to create a camera with wireless capability, and Sony's DSC-G3 is the answer to the teenager who needs to update their Facebook right this second. The small and compact design allows you to take it anywhere and the Wi-Fi capability means you don't have to wait to upload those pictures to your Facebook. The 10-megapixel camera has a 4x zoom, 4 GB of storage, a 3.5 inch touch-screen display and a built in web browser that allows you to connect via Wi-Fi hotspots to upload your images to your favorite sites and you get free access to AT&T wireless locations until 2012.

HP TouchSmart PC

Touch screens have taken over the cell phone industry. Ever since the IPhone came out it seems like every new phone has a touch feature. But one question remains; Where is the touch screen technology in computers? The new HP TouchSmart PC brings that technology to your home computer. This computer comes in a 22 or 25.5 inch display and can be equipped with a TV tuner, Blu-ray player and will be wall mountable. This turn from the business side of computers into the more social side and multimedia driven is due to the rise of Apple and its target audience. The HP TouchSmart PC is a whole new way to think about computers and should give Apple a run for their money.

Logitech G13 Advanced Gameboard

Logitech has created a gaming controller that is a game changer. The G13 has been designed to follow the natural shape of your hands and has a solid and stable design to keep up with those intense gaming sessions. The controller offers 25 programmable keys that are backlit, so that you can fit the controller to your style of play. It has the ability to create macros on the fly and a programmable mini-joystick. It also has a game panel that gathers tactical information like live stats and system info. This controller promises to bring an edge to anyone who shells out the $79.99 for one.

4Home Inc.

4Home Inc.'s energy division provides a central hub through which you can control your energy consumption. The hub connects through your existing wireless network to make installation easy. You can then plug in energy measuring devices to the appliances you want to measure. Your hub will provide you with information about your energy usage on your computer, TV or mobile phone. You can then set up an energy plan for your home. You can tell it to turn your computer off at a certain time or to drop the lights a certain amount, thus helping the environment and saving you money.

VPAD

In every science fiction book or movie there are two constants; cars fly and we have videophones. Who knows when we will get flying cars, but the videophone is well on its way to completion. Viable has created a videophone, VPAD, that can be used anywhere that Wi-Fi is available. It has a 10.2-inch wide screen, Bluetooth, USB 2.0, internal and external A/V and microphone and headphone ports. It supports 30 frames per second full motion video.

Pano Logic

The new desktop is the virtual one. Pano Logic has created the first home data center that runs a virtual computer. Users still have all the hardware used to interact with a regular PC, but now they are connected to the Pano device that is running a virtual PC on a server inside the data center. The Pano has just one button that allows you to access several self-help solutions instead of the help desk call centers that dominate PC desktops. This is the future of computers, the virtual machines.

Belkin FlyWire

The FlyWire is an innovative device that allows you to wirelessly connect to and switch from several video sources. FlyWire will take your high definition, standard definition, gaming system and DVRs and allow you to access them wirelessly from anywhere in your home. This innovation allows to take one source and beam it to any television in the house.

WowWee Spyball

WowWee has developed a small robot that rolls in a ball and then transforms into a camera that can connect via Wi-Fi to any Wi-Fi enabled device like a laptop. The camera can capture still images and video. You can configure a simple home network that will allow you to control the robot from any location via the internet.
