Russell Day gallery features 'Cascadia' exhibit
Date:
October 9, 2009 (All day)

The Russell Day Gallery's newest exhibit "Cascadia: Born From Nature" is a Pacific Northwest-inspired display of Marguerite Goff's ceramics, Patricia Resseguie's fiber art and Renate Trapkowski's mixed media paintings.

This gallery is located in the Parks Building of Everett Community College campus and will be featured through October 29.
The three different artists came together to create this exhibit, which displayed three different mediums. Each of the artists worked with their medium to express the Cascadia experience. Nature running from the Oregon coast to British Columbia had originally inspired "Cascadia: Born From Nature."

Goff worked in her home studio to create ceramic pieces for "Cascadia." Her works include several Raku-glazed pottery pieces which all seem to have a Pacific Northwest feel to them. When asked about one of her eye-catching ceramic pieces with crackled glaze, Goff explained that she used the Raku glazes to give her piece a nature-oriented look with earth tones and metallic properties.

Resseguie created her pieces using a unique fiber and free motion embroidery. One of her pieces, "At Mile Marker," was made using seven and a half miles of a special dissolvable bobbin thread to create a mossy look. She also created "The Installation," which lined the floor of the gallery.
Trapkowski used a mixed media style of painting to construct her pieces. Many of her paintings contain acrylic and gold leaf, which give her paintings a special texture.
