The Trojan Women's soccer team improved from the dismal record they had last season.
Everett managed to stay out of the basement in the NWAACC Northern Region standings this season, but failed to make the playoffs for the second consecutive year. There was much improvement though, as the Trojans were able to double their win total from last season (4), score more goals (18) and post more shutouts (3).
Everett closed out the year with two games against Skagit Valley Community College and Whatcom Community College at Kasch Park on Nov. 4 and Nov. 7.
First up, Everett played host to Skagit Valley. Skagit (2-10-2), the doormat of the NWAACC Northern region. Everett humbled Skagit early and often as the Trojans built a two goal lead in the first seven minutes to take control.
The Trojans leading-scorer, Tess William, got the scoring started when she took a Kene Vanderpool pass in the sixth minute and converted it into an Everett goal, her first of two on the day. Not to be outdone, Caitlin Voehl added another goal just one minute later to extend the lead.
Brittany Martin continued the onslaught, as she put the Trojans up by a count of 3-0. Everett went on to win the match 4-1, but not before William added another goal to improve her season total to a team-leading eight goals on the year.
As well as the Trojans played against Skagit, they were no match for the mighty Orcas of Whatcom Community College. Whatcom (10-4-2) had already won the NWAACC Northern Region, and proved why they were the top school as they easily put Everett away 3-0.
The loss gave Everett a 4-9-3 record on the season, with a 3-8-2 (11 points) in league play. A far cry from last season's record of 2-18-2.
Freshman Tess William led the team with her eight goals, while Freshman Laina Weber was the team's leader in assists with five.
First-year head coach Geoff Kittle led the Everett Trojan team.
